My husband and I are attempting to make cider! We're trying two different kinds of yeast...Wish us luck!
I have some friends that are expecting a baby any day now, and I'm working on sewing a robot felt plushie for the new bebe. This is how I design and make all of my felt stuff. First, I draw out a pattern on posterboard, and cut out the pieces. Then I trace onto my felt, and cut out THOSE pieces. I make patterns because if it works well and I want to make another- I don't have to redo all the design work. Work smart not hard I say.
I work kind of organically, adjusting the pattern as I go, adding little pieces here and there. When all the pieces are cut out I hand-sew all the felt details on, working from the topmost layer down.
...Then I hand sew all of the details on...This takes the longest. I then sewed the arms by machine, and stacked the whole shabang together, and machine sewed it up! I stuffed it, and then blanket stitched the opening. He's all ready for the baby to arrive!
See here's the thing about instragram, and photo filters, and all that stuff- it makes everything look amazing. Annoyingly so. This is all literally crap from around my house that looks like art. =/
Oman oh man oh man everyone, I have some great news. My lettuce experiment is yielding fantastic results in phase 2. As you may well remember, several weeks ago I tried to regrow lettuce from... LETTUCE. It's daring, I know. It appeared to actually be working! Than all of a sudden it seemed to max out at like an inch or so of growth.
I found out later that my husband took a bite out of the top of it. But that's neither here nor there, for BEHOLD, I give you TEENY BABY LETTUCES growing out of the stubby remains of last week's salad!
Good job nature! Brilliant. I can't imagine this will come to any kind of conclusion in which I will be able to resurrect a salad from the ashes of an old salad, like some kind of vegetal phoenix rising to live another day on my dinner plate. But it looks cool, and it's free entertainment. I show my son every morning. =)
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday! -E
Holy craaaaaap I'm tired. I made 2 loaves of buttermilk/honey bread today with this recipe from "Wishes and Dishes" (which turned out AWESOME), a giant crock-pot of apple sauce, covered 3 pillows, and made a bunny for my son. Whoof. I'm beat. The pillows turned out great- I found the tutorial here from "Enjoy The View." Super easy way to freshen up the living room without spending any money...If you happen to have a big ole box of fabric like I do. I tend to hoard art supplies for occasions JUST like this. The bunny turned out ok-ish...I'm still learning how to use my sewing machine, not to mention how to put together toys. It's complicated! His butt is all shaped funny...And for some reason I appear to have given him a cat nose? Not sure what happened there. I love that he matches our couch now =). Well ta-ta for now, I need some SLEEP so I can make more things tomorrow.
